Alliance NYC Promotion

Promotions will be held at Alliance NYC on December 5th. It is important for all the students to try to attend if only to support you teammates. A celebration dinner will be held at Piola.

Thanksgiving Throwdown

Congratulations to all the people who competed yesterday in the Good Fight: Thanksgiving Throwdown. Congrats on gold to Chris , Mike, Dave B., Kevin S., Jake and especially Zata who won the gold two divisions, submitting all four opponents! Also great job to white belt Adam who took silver in Gi and bronze in No-Gi, defeating 3 blue belts. Also great efforts put forth Sam, Kevin, Dave D. And thanks to Fabio for coming to coach and support all the guys.

Alliance Rio Trip!

Eduardo Capeluto of Alliance NY is organizing a Alliance trip to Rio sometime next year. So far April and August have been the two suggested dates. If your have any questions or are interested in coming please talk to Eduardo or Dave so that we can estimate the number of people going.

Great match from the 2005 Master & Senior Worlds. Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaoBVjDl9SE&NR=1. The sweep at 4:07 is an awesome one I've seen Fabio do a number of times. I think it would be a good one for those of you who like going for gi takedowns from the collar pull (Mike S.). It's also good because if you miss the takedown you still have your open guard with grips.

Ginastica Natural Seminar- 11/15/08

Also on Nov.15 Alliance NY will be hosting a Ginastica Natural seminar with Alvaro Romano. Ginastica Natural is a type of physical conditioning that combines yoga, jiu jitsu ground movements, strength building exercises and breath work to create a method that enhances mind and body control. Alvaro has been the conditioning coach to some of the sports biggest stars including Fabio Gurgel and Saulo and Xande Ribeiro. The seminar will be $65 and will include the newest Ginastica Natural DVD. Space is limited so reserve your spot with Fabio as soon as possible.

Upcoming Tournament 11/15/08

Saturday, Nov.15 will be the North Carolina state championships in Charlotte, NC. There will be gi and no-gi divisions as well as a pro no-gi lightweight division.
